A long walk home

Students currently attending McMichael Elementary School in West Philadelphia would have a much longer distance to travel if the Philadelphia School District closes the school, as planned. Jerry Jordan, president of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, walked between McMichael and each of the two schools that would accept its students, Martha Washington and Locke. It took Jordan 23 minutes to walk to Martha Washington, and 40 minutes to walk to Locke. See Larger Image
