You can find loose leaf tea and spices (and even dried mushrooms) by the ounce at Sullivan Street Tea & Spice Company. But did you know they also offer hot drinks and sweets? There's no seating (I go to Washington Square Park), though that shouldn't stop you from getting a chai to go. It's a spicy blend, bright with ginger, and it's an ideal accompaniment to cookies made especially for the tea shop.
Priced at $2.25 apiece, there's Green Tea & Lemon, a hearty crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside cookie with a drizzle of frosting. Then there's Chamomile and Honey, softer in flavor and sweeter, with honey coming in first and chamomile on the finish.
