There has been thick snow and a deep freeze on our doorsteps, and it feels like Christmas was barely a moment ago. However, the half-term holidays are on the horizon ? for most 16-24 February, but for some a week earlier ? offering the opportunity for a winter escape to the sun, or deeper into the snow of Europe's ski resorts.
