New York is more than just an amazing city to eat in; it's also a fantastic place to be a home cook. Look hard enough and you can find a specialty market for every ethnicity that calls the city home, and they all offer something special.

We're diehard fans of Kalustyan's and Sahadi's, and visit the Essex Street Market pretty often.

And for every major market destination there are dozens of small neighborhood spots that we visit again and again, like Bangkok Center Grocery, home of amazing Thai pandan and coconut milk, or Titan Foods, where feta gets its own counter.
