Proposed low-income housing for the infirm and mentally ill is being panned by Hillcrest residents who say it will ruin their neighborhood. Queens Hospital Center is seeking to convert an unused part of its campus into housing for low-income and at-risk patients, much to the dismay of stakeholders who fear a deluge of unstable individuals.
