Peluqueria Francesa AKA Boulevard Lavaud in Santiago de Chile

During a former trip to Santiago de Chile David Report visited Boulevard Lavaud AKA Peluqueria Francesa. The mixed French hairdressing salon and restaurant is situated in the Barrio Yungay; a district situated just outside the city center  with a historic charm which gives you a taste of the old Santiago. Barrio Yungay has a small-town feel with a nostalgic air and mix of old and new. We are not surprised to find a lot of creative persons and companies moving into this area. The French hairdressing salon Peluqueria Francesa has a history all the way back to 1868. Cristian Levaud, grandson of the founder, has conserved the salon – it's almost like walking into a museum. The armchairs are still there, the staff cuts with knife and use hot cloth and talc. They look pretty cool as well!   The hairdressing salon used to occupy some more rooms in the building, which have now been turned into bigger space for his restaurant Boulevard Lavaud. But the history is still present – some of the equipment, like hood hairdriers have been transformed into lamps.   In the same block Cristian runs Antiguo Almacén, an old-fashioned grocery with gourmet and organic items.
