It's hard to think of a more appropriate honor for Robin Roberts, isn't it?
The Good Morning America co-anchor will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2013 ESPYs in July, ESPN confirmed yesterday.
The ex-SportsCenter anchor will be recognized for fighting against both breast cancer and the unusual blood disorder that prompted her to undergo a bone marrow transplant in September.
"Robin brings an amazing amount of energy, compassion and determination to everything she does," ESPN President John Skipper said in a statement. "Those qualities made her an incredible asset during her time here at ESPN, and they have served her well as she battled the terrible health challenges that she's had to face."
In other morning show news, Matt Lauer still may be fired and Ann Curry was not permitted to Tweet Roberts well wishes by her bosses at NBC.
Consider this another point for GMA in its ongoing domination of The Today Show.
