The stock-market rally has pushed the portfolio of Arizona's largest pension fund and related programs above $30 billion for the first time, but another key measure of financial health has been slower to improve.
The Arizona State Retirement System surpassed $30 billion in assets last month, continuing a four-year recovery. Assets had slipped from about $28.5 billion in mid-2007 to $21 billion two years later, when the stock market slumped as the economy slid into recession.
