South End?s Ink Block development kicks off

National Development celebrated the start of its redevelopment of the former Boston Herald headquarters ?South End style? with an Ink Block party this morning.

The Newton company this week will begin tearing down the One Herald Square building that housed the newspaper for 54 years to make way for the Ink Block, a 471-unit apartment complex anchored by a Whole Foods supermarket with another 35,000 square feet of restaurants, shops and entertainment options.
