One of the premier races in the world both to run in and to watch, the Boston Marathon is also a boon to local businesses, which eagerly await the infusion of customers it brings.
?The Boston Marathon has a significant impact on the region?s economy as well as many charitable foundations,? said Paul Guzzi, president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.?With approximately 27,000 runners and 500,000 spectators expected, the marathon weekend will inject an estimated $140 million into the local economy.?
