Remember when printed T-shirts were a thing?
I have to admit that it's been quite awhile since they were a staple in my adult closet, but there definitely was a time when I was so obsessed that I collected them in droves. My favorite was a black off-the-shoulder style with an eagle printed on it. I wore it with flared jeans (don't laugh, this was the early 2000s) and pointy-toe heels. It was very rock-chick awesome.
3.1 Phillip Lim spring 2013
Christopher Kane spring 2013
Now, thanks to T-shirts from designers like Phillip Lim and Christopher Kane, that spirit of irreverent glamour is back in a big way. Both designers offered up their own versions of printed T-shirts on their spring 2013 runways, and both paired them with lace and florals for a softer, updated take on grunge.
It's an idea that feels fresh for spring, and best of all, it's totally easy to wear and not impossible to make your own. I like the idea of dressing them up with a skirt and ankle-strap pumps or wearing them with Converse, and boyfriend jeans for a nouveau '90s vibe.
