Herb Magee Revisits Eastern State Penitentiary

Philadelphia University's Hall of Fame basketball coach, Herb Magee, visited the Catholic Chapel area at Eastern State Penitentiary. Herb's uncle, Father Edwin Gallagher, who raised him after he was orphaned, also was the Catholic Chaplain at Eastern State for much of the 1950's. Though Herb went there to play basketball several times with inmates, he was seeing the chapel and his uncle's office for the first time. Herb is chairing a fundraiser in May to raise funds to restore art work done by an inmate, Lester Smith, in his uncle's old office.
