Vintage Kitchen Finds

May 2, 2013

'Tis the season for yard sales, and there's a discussion on the Kitchen Counsel forum about classic kitchen finds. If you're not squeamish about using other people's cookware, you can definitely track down real bargains. "I'm always on the lookout for things I'd probably NEVER spend REAL money for," explains Epi member Kseiverd. "If an item is CLEAN, in working order, and preferably with manual/direction and CHEAP, I'm willing to give it a shot." Kseiverd has picked up Le Creuset and KitchenAid bargains, cast-iron items, and a set of Fiestaware, among other goodies. My personal best find is the KitchenAid mixer from the 1940s pictured here. I saw it posted on Freecycle and scooped it up. Although it only came with the regular blade and whisk, it's been a useful addition to our kitchen, as well as a popular topic of conversation when people visit. Do you have a favorite tag sale or thrift store kitchen item? Or do you always buy kitchen- and dining-ware new? Share your treasure-hunting stories below!
