This weekend, Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated film will finally hit theaters. We've speculated over the music and performances, and of course gushed about the fashion(and jewels) associated with the film.
The story, following narrator Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), chronicles the high energy of spring in New York City in the early 1920s: a time of looser morals, sparkling parties and flowing champagne. He winds up next door to party-throwing extraordinaire, the mysterious Jay Gatsby (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the water from his cousin Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) and her husband. He's absorbed into the lives and trials of the super wealthy of New York City, telling us a great tale of love and deceit.
We couldn't be more excited for this film, namely because of the beloved story and its stacked cast. Carey Mulligan has made a name for herself on the red carpet, constantly stunning in fashion-forward pieces. Leonardo DiCaprio has been on the scene since he was quite young, and has transformed as any young man would, walking the red carpet for such a large portion of his life.
