Yesterday, I wrote that Kerry Washington was one of my style crushes, and it looks like I have yet another reason as to why. She's mastered the art of pairing a black top with an above-the-knee-length skirt without making it look utterly and completely boring.
Example one: The actress visited the set of Extra wearing a geometric-print pleated skirt from the Marni spring 2013 collection and a black short-sleeve Isabel Marant top. She finished her look with a pink chain-link Christian Louboutin bag and leopard-print heels.
Example two: For an appearance on Good Morning America Kerry wore a black-and-blue textured skirt, a black leather T-shirt, a zebra-print chain-link bag, and purple-heeled pumps.
Notice any similar styling tricks in these two looks? First, both of Kerry's skirts have some sort of print or pattern to them. Instant interest booster. Next, her black tops have a dash of personality. In the first look, we saw some sheer detailing, and the second was cut from leather. Finally, her accessories don't even come close to matching her top and bottom—which is the genius of it all. There's something to be said for not going the matchy-matchy route. What do you think of Kerry Washington's daytime looks? Do you have a style crush on her too? Whose style are you loving these days? Discuss!
