Edible Wedding Favors

May 18, 2013

On Monday it will be exactly one year since my husband and I walked down the aisle to say our "I do's." It took weeks before we came down from the excitement of the big day. It took even longer to get used to the idea that the whirlwind of planning was over and we could finally relax and enjoy married life. Now that we've had time to reflect fondly on our wedding?and everything that went into putting it together?there are some things we might have done differently. We had plenty of personal touches in our ceremony and celebration, but it wouldn't have hurt to have more. If we knew then, what we know now, we would have gone the DIY route with our wedding favors. Making your own homemade favors is an extremely personal and sentimental touch that shows guests how much you appreciate them being part of your special day. They are easy to make, highlight who you are as a couple, and can capture the feel of the season. Flavored honeys, scented sugar, spices mixes, and infused alcohols can all be made well in advance of your wedding date so you don't have to rush at the last minute. Creating your own favors is also a great way to involve your spouse-to-be, members of your wedding party, relatives, and friends (and delegate some of the responsibility!). A big part of enjoying the planning and preparations for a wedding is sharing the duties and experiences with your loved ones.
