Startup locks broker out of rental apartment leasing

A Somerville startup has figured out a way for apartment hunters to eliminate the real estate middleman.

JumpShell, which goes live June 15, helps people find apartments online, using their social network.

?We?ve been trying to remove the broker so that tenants can have a more affordable, more enjoyable apartment-renting experience,? said Raleigh Werner, who bootstrapped the company with CEO Matthew Boyes-Watson and Chief Technical Officer Parker Woodworth.
