While the animals up for adoption at the Animal Rescue League of Boston are looking for good homes, for many the shelter itself is a welcome respite after a life of abuse. And they have the privately funded law enforcement arm of the ARL to thank for taking them out of often horrible conditions.
?They are the ones that investigate cruelty, complaints and if they have to, seize an animal because it is in danger,? said Dedham shelter manager Lisa Lagos. ?We are here to help our law enforcement department by maintaining those animals.?
