I always say I eat for a living, but once again I've been reminded I might be in the wrong line of work. Yesterday we met up with our informal Asian-eating/eating-Asian group for lunch in Queens and, as always, did so with no research in advance. So far they have never steered us wrong with Hunanese and Yunnanese and Sichuanese and Malaysian and Indonesian etc. They said Bukharian and we said what time? As always, I left the ordering to the experts. And as always, the real food person in this ... Quick Read |

On Monday it will be exactly one year since my husband and I walked down the aisle to say our "I do's." It took weeks before we came down from the excitement of the big day. It took even longer to get used to the idea that the whirlwind of planning was over and we could finally relax and enjoy married life. Now that we've had time to reflect fondly on our wedding?and everything that went into putting it together?there are some things we might have done differently. We had plenty of personal ... I always figure if Nature wanted us to eat asparagus with anything but excessive richness, She wouldn't have designed the tips to catch every bit of hollandaise/butter/sesame mayonnaise etc. But there are some nights when gilding the lily* even makes this Mrs. Sprat hesitate, and I'm someone who could eat hollandaise on foie gras. If our dinnertime protein is turkey Milanese, or trout topped with bacon, capers and sage, extra fat just makes me conjure Mr. Creosote. So I'm trying other ways to ... Quick Read |

It's not even Memorial Day yet, but grilling fever (pronounced feeev-aahhhh, natch) has hit hard at our house. Perhaps it's a function of being a working parent, but any dinner prep method that involves practically no cleanup and gets me outside for a few precious minutes of sunlight after a day in the office is a-okay by me. Plus, we all get to blow bubbles together while we're cooking dinner. What I'd really love, of course, is some way to grill everything we consume. Cereal. Bagels. Salad. ... Quick Read |

Maybe our approach is unique -- I hope not -- but we believe in making sure packaging states things as clearly and directly as possible. There is no better way to convince ... Quick Read |

We make hundreds of purchasing decisions each day, and companies are constantly looking for new ways to tempt us to pick their product of the shelf. So what goes into the design of food packaging? Yael Miller, partner at Miller Creative, a branding agency, took time away from the drafting board to clue us in. Right now I see a trend toward a "homemade" look to food packaging.
