Energy-producing shell covered with hairs that can extract wind energy

From David Report

Belatchew Architects presents a visionary idea called STRAWSCRAPER, the first project to come out of their  business called Belatchew Labs. STRAWSCRAPER is an extension of the south tower on Södermalm in Stockholm with a new energy-producing shell covered with hairs that can extract wind energy. What was originally meant to be 40 storeys became only 26. The South Tower on Södermalm in central Stockholm was completed in 1997, but the architect Henning Larsen had then dropped out of the mission ... Quick Read

Nothing to do with uniformity and everything to do with standing out from the crowd

From David Report

Buster + Punch is a London based company that creates daring and evocative design objects that celebrate custom living and being individual. The brand has nothing to do with uniformity and everything to do with standing out from the crowd according to the founders. It all started in a small garage in East London, where we discovered a passion for customising the things we love. From light fittings to motorcycles, furniture to leather jackets, we expressed our personality the only way we knew ... Quick Read

Milan Design Week 2013 ? part one

From David Report

We left Milan Design Week 2013 with different impressions. Some things were very disappointing. Superstudio seems to be totally out of artist direction and has been in a negative trend for many years (so far from the first years when Giulio Cappellini hand-picked the different brands). Also the Zona Tortona area in general was weak this year. Moooi was standing out, but mostly because of the blow-up size of the show. On the other hand we found some a couple of interesting shows and places at ... Quick Read

From David Report

Swedish design group Front will present a couple of new pieces at Milan Design Week 2013. Anomaly for Moroso is a series of seats, the aesthetic expression of which is related somehow to animal forms or perhaps some unknown creature. Mobile lamp for Museo Bagatti Valsecci has a structure like a mobile, spreading light over a large area. Using different counterweights, it's possible to change its shape. 3Table for Porro consists of three tables in different materials that are connected, ... Quick Read
