London’s residents may be looking at a new skyline in 20 years with a proposed SkyCycle project that aims to create bicycle routes that sit high above existing suburban railway corridors. Foster + Partners and Space Syntax are collaborating on creating a secure, wide deck above trains that would give cyclists approximately 136 miles of car-free roads.

Ireland's Ashford Castle Recreates Prince of Wales' 1905 Hunting Party

The prestigious Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland, one of the United Kingdom’s most impressive historic estates, recently celebrated its 75th anniversary as a luxury hotel. It did so by recreating a famed hunting party held for the Prince of Wales on the castle’s grounds in 1905. Now a five-star member of the Leading Hotels of the World, the castle was first built on the estate in 1228 by the Anglo-Norman family, House of Burke. It has been rebuilt several times over the decades and ultimately becoming a world-class hotel in 1939.

Claridge's, a landmark hotel in London’s posh Mayfair neighborhood whose admirers include Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Kate Moss, Mick Jagger, Madonna and Victoria Beckham, has unveiled what is undoubtedly the world’s most fashionable Christmas tree. Designed by longtime guests and friends of the hotel, the tree was created by Italian fashion icons Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The luxurious hotel, originally opened in 1812, has made a tradition of inviting its designer devotees to design a Christmas tree each year; past contributors have included Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and Dior’s John Galliano.
