Ritz-Carlton, San Juan Unveils Multimillion-Dollar Renovation

Puerto Rico’s The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan has long been one of the Caribbean’s premier destinations. Now the award-winning beachside resort has just unveiled a multimillion-dollar renovation and enhancement project designed by renowned firm Jeffery Beers International. Upgrades were made to all of the hotel’s 416 luxurious guestrooms and suites. Beers blended a modern, sophisticated aesthetic with the resort’s traditional island elegance using a provocative color palette of canary yellow with deep aqua blue, teal and chartreuse detailing, evoking Puerto Rico’s azure waters and lush tropical landscape. New research from both Ipsos Mendelsohn and the Luxury Institute display similar trends regarding an emerging luxury market segment: the affluent family. Starwood/St. Regis and Ritz-Carlton have re-sculpted their branding messages in order to attract this group among others, and membership sales of Exclusive Resorts. ER is the largest Destination Club in the world, with approximately 3,400 members. Their new member sales were up 60% in the first six months of 2011, versus the first six months of 2010. You cannot fully appreciate the immensity of a building like Hong Kong’s ICC tower, until you view it from afar. Even from the windows at the top of the Ritz-Carlton, which occupies all of the utmost levels of the building, it takes a moment of studying the landscape: realizing that you can blot out cars and semi-trucks down below with the tip of your thumb. Helicopters are not authorized to fly as high as the space that the hotel occupies. That is how high it is. The shape of the ICC building mimics that of a dragon, a fitting homage to this iconic Asian city that it seems to guard.... Read More
