SeaOrbiter Underwater Habitat Takes Us 100 Ft. Below the Ocean & Into the Future of Sea Exploration

In 1977, architect Jacques Rougerie built the Galathée, his first underwater habitat design. The semi-mobile laboratory was able to be moored as deep as 196 feet with little environmental impact. Since then, Rougerie has developed other marine structures for mostly scientific purposes, but his newest project blows them all out of the water. Created to advance sea exploration, SeaOrbiter is a vertical vessel that is part ship and part submarine.

In the above video from Sunrise Yachts, a beautiful woman dreams of the perfect luxury yacht and then awakens to find herself actually on one. Talk about lucky—I’ve dreamt of Tom Hiddleston and I on a boat and it didn't come true. The superyacht this charmed lady ends up on is the 63m M/Y Irimari. Designed by Espen Øino, the design can accommodate 12 guests across six suites and has enough room for 17 crewmembers.

Ever wonder what a $6.2-million-dollar yacht sinking looks like? Now you don’t have to ponder, because you have the above video to watch (while cringing, of course). The superyacht in question was off the coast of Mykonos when it hit a barrier reef late last week in the wee hours of the morning. Due to the strike, the vessel (which is called Aloha) started taking on water and the four people onboard had to be rescued by a patrol boat. Thankfully, no one was hurt—unless you count their hearts fracturing from the loss.
