Meet the Real Wolf of Wall Street Superyacht Built for Coco Chanel

Jan 21, 2014  |   Contributor: Jared Paul Stern

The yachting disaster is one of the most dramatic scenes in Martin Scorsese’s blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street, and like many of the tales in the Leonardo DiCaprio flick, it’s based on a true story. In real life, predatory tycoon Jordan Belfort bought a yacht in 1993 called Big Eagle and renamed her Nadine, after his English-born second wife.

Sony's 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector Is Totally Worth the $40k Price Tag

Jan 18, 2014  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich

There were a lot of cool things at this year's CES, but my favorite is probably Sony's new 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector. Unlike other projectors, this one doesn't have to be mounted on the ceiling or anywhere else far back from the surface area it's projecting upon. As anyone who has ever stood up in front of one of those models knows, that setup isn't necessarily ideal — well, not unless you really like making shadow puppets.

So, you just finished installing your dream luxury home theater and are finally ready to start enjoying it. Considering you spent so much time making everything perfect, from the screen and the sound to the comfy seats, you would probably rather watch a new flick in your new setup rather than at your local AMC. Thankfully, PRIMA Cinema makes that possible by bringing movies to your private theater on the same day of their box office release.

Say Goodbye to 2013 With the Year's Most Memorable Art Moments

Jan 1, 2014  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich

So much happened in 2013, but my favorite stories all revolve around the art world. From iconic singers finally releasing an autobiography (it's about time, Morrissey!) to Marina Abramović making it big in mainstream culture, it has been a pretty full year. Here are some of my favorite art stories to have come up (not all of them are positive, by the way) and though many go unmentioned, that's where you come in to share your favorites!

Getting to Know the Dragon Smaug AKA Benedict Cumberbatch

Dec 13, 2013  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has finally been released and thankfully, it's far better than the first (which didn't get to the good stuff until the very end). Though the cast is huge and plenty of familiar characters were finally given some excellent screen time (I'm looking at you Thranduil), it's safe to say that people are going to be the most excited to finally meet Smaug.

Ten Reasons Why We Love Jennifer Lawrence More Than Our Own Grandmothers

Nov 22, 2013  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich  |  1 Comment

The world's love affair with Jennifer Lawrence continues on with no end in sight — literally, I would follow her anywhere. We all have reasons for loving her, whether because she gives a proud voice to our obsession with food without ever giving in to Hollywood's beauty standard or because she keeps it real and talks to the camera like we do our best friend.

The New York Times Distributes Blank Pages For The Book Thief Advertisement

Oct 23, 2013  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich

If you picked up a copy of The New York Times today, you probably noticed that pages nine and ten are completely blank, save for a URL at the very bottom. Before you wonder if Banksy got ahold of the famous paper for today's New York takeover art piece, it wasn't him and it wasn't a mistake — it's actually a pretty fantastic ad for 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of Markus Zusak's novel, The Book Thief.

Rock Paper Photo CEO Mark Halpern Talks Procuring Some of the World's Most Iconic Entertainment Photography

Oct 23, 2013  |   Contributor: Mila Pantovich  |  1 Comment

There are few jobs out there that I would nearly kill for, but Mark Halpern's is one of them. As the CEO of Rock Paper Photo, Mark spends his days hunting for rare and unseen photos of all your favorite iconic rock stars, actors, and authors. Nowadays with the internet, you can see hundreds of photos of whoever you want, but Google isn't going to get inside that shoe box filled with negatives under a photographer's bed — Mark and his team will, and that's where it gets interesting.
