Luxury Campgrounds: The El Capitan Canyon
provides a unique combination of wilderness and
sumptuousness for travelers seeking an active vacation
with a full docket of exciting experiences. Located in
Santa Barbara, California, the area's wonderful
climate enables guest to explore the beaches and go on
hiking and biking trails year round. Activities
include guided hiking, biking, rock climbing, surfing,
kayaking, wine-tasting tours and yoga. Full-body
therapeutic massages also are offered.
The El Capitan Ranch also has horseback riding through
scenic trails and carriage rides. Full-care boarding
facilities are available for horses. Additionally,
four easily accessible golf courses are nearby, plus
glider rides, whale-watching excursions, and sailboat

recreational-service companies.
Guests stay either in luxuriously appointed cedar
cabins or campout in spacious safari tents, which are
situated on wood decks and have queen-size beds and
nearby bathroom facilities. The largest tents
comfortably accommodate four. The woodsy cabins sleep
four to six and offer kitchenettes, wet bars, full
bathrooms, fire pits and telephones. Some of the
cabins have Jacuzzis too. All cabins and tents have
individual fire pits and picnic tables. Cooking is
permitted in cabins but guests must bring their own
cooking necessities. Gourmet meals are served daily at
the Canyon Market & Deli. Nightly lodgings in cabins
range from $225 to $305, and the safari tents go from
$125 up to $165.
