A guided tour of the National Heritage Site of Constitution Hill
takes visitors on a journey through South Africa's turbulent past,
but also illustrates its incredible transition into democracy.
Visitors are guided through the Old Fort Prison Complex where the
peeling walls and rusty barred cells have many a story to tell of
South Africa's past 100 years; from British soldiers in the Anglo
Boer War and rebellious youths caught in the Soweto uprising to
Nelson Mandela, Joe Slovo and infamous murderess Daisy de Melker.
The tour concludes with a look at South Africa's Constitutional
Court, the keeper of the basic rights and freedom that those
imprisoned here had struggled to win.
