Hotel Review: If you are looking to stay within walking distance to Beacon Hill, Government Center, Faneuil Hall Marketplace or even Downtown Crossing then look no further than The Ames Hotel. This boutique hotel opened in November and is the brainchild of the masterminds behind Rockwell and Morgans Hotel Groups of Mondrian and Delano fame.
The highly anticipated opening of this hotel with just 114 rooms has since attracted Hollywood’s A-list celebrities, who often book a stay in The Apartment, the Ames’ take on a traditional Presidential Suite. The ultra-luxe suite offers the ultimate in modern luxury - silk rugs, a velvet chaise, Egyptian cotton linens, a polished chrome four-poster bed, original fireplace and floor-to-ceiling Romanesque arched windows that overlook the bustling city. There are several suites available here and the standard rooms are also spacious and comfortable with some bathrooms featuring a unique clear glass “peek-a-boo” shower. For those looking for a more traditional private shower, be sure to request a room with a frosted glass wall in the bathroom. Staying true to its more traditional northeast decor, the Morgans-style hotel offers a design unique to its South Beach sister properties, while still mimicking the white-on-white décor.
Don’t miss dinner at the on-site restaurant, Woodward, which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and even a late night menu served until 2 a.m. for night owls. Upscale dinner entrees at the tavern range from monkfish tail with lobster to grilled hangar steak with French fries. The cocktails here take on a fun Boston flair with names like State Street smash, Scollay sling and the Boston mule.
The Ames Hotel is located right around the corner from the State Street train station making it easily accessible to not only get here but to also see the entire city as well. Because of its sophisticated look and design, the trendy Ames Hotel has already made a name for itself in Boston and after a visit here, you will soon know why.
