Luxury Cruise News: Book a cruise Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas and make sure to pack plenty recyclable shopping bags. Oasis of the Seas is adding a new incentive to cruise on its latest flagship luxury liner—duty-free luxury shopping at its finest. The company is claiming that it will offer the broadest selection of boutiques and specialty shops of any cruiser afloat.
The profusion of shopping options will run the luxury gamut with shops for men and women, fine jewelry, electronic gadgetry and merchants with items for teenagers and children as well. World-recognized luxury brands Coach and Breitling will on board along with Pianegonda and various specialty apparel firms such as, Lucky Brand, Eileen Fisher, DC Apparel and Forest & Fauna.
"We are consistently pushing the envelope with the retail selection offered on our cruise ships, and with Oasis of the Seas we sought out to fully transform the shopping experience at sea by introducing new brands and new concepts," said Lisa Bauer, senior VP, Hotel Operations, Royal Caribbean International.
The first offshore store of Coach will feature a signature line of handcrafted designer handbags, various leather goods, scarves, and sunglasses. Breitling, a prestigious horologist that produces watches historically worn by professional airline pilots and scuba divers, will showcase its line of precision-crafted timepieces in its pioneering offshore location.
Fine jewelers Roberto Coin, Charriol and Yvel also will be introducing their first stores over waters. Staples of the Royal Caribbean’s luxury shops Chanel and Christian Dior will be there. A full spa and fitness center, the Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center will be aboard too.
Special themed areas will include Central Park, the Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, the Entertainment Place and the Youth Zone. Other innovative outlets include Star Pier, which will be an interactive shop with an electronics wall of modern personal accessories and gadgetry. Additionally, there will be a DJ station and a Ninendo Wii® gaming center as well as several shops that will appeal to youngsters ranging from tykes to teens. A vintage candy store will be onboard for “kids” of all ages.
Royal Caribbean’s 16-deck Oasis of the Seas, which has 2,700 staterooms and can accommodate 5,400 passengers, is set to launch from its homeport in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on November 11, 2009. For more information, visit Royal Caribbean.com or OasisoftheSeas.com.
