Luxé City Guide: Monaco Travel to Monaco/Monte-Carlo: Monaco, the Rock, is arguably one of the most idyllic dream spots to vacation on the entire planet. The principality is located between the Swiss Alps and the most southern tip of France. Medieval French villages that surround the area offer up unbelievable sites to see. In Peille, the feel of the 13th and 14th centuries still remains intact with its narrow streets, gothic fountains, and the remains of a fortress that surrounds the Consul's palace. Peillon, which is between Monaco and Nice, has the White Penitent's chapel of the 12th century, while Coaraze is renowned known for its longstanding and numerous sundials and historic chapels. La Turbie, a small town situated at the foot of Mount Agel that overlooks Monaco, is famous for the Trophee de Alpes. The monument was raised around 7 or 6 BC to commemorate tribes subjugated between 44 and 29 BC. It was deemed "too pagan" and destroyed by monks.

Shopping-Avenue de Monte Carlo (one of the most exclusive collections in the world)
Monte Carlo is certainly no budget shopping destination, but there are plenty of places to melt the credit card alongside Europe's high rollers. The chicest clothes shops are in the 'Golden Circle', framed by avenue Monte Carlo, avenue des Beaux-Arts and allees Lumieres, where Hermes, Christian Dior, Gucci and Prada all have a presence. The area on and around place du Casino is home to high end jewellers such as Bulgari, Cartier and Chopard. For souvenirs, the tourist orientated shops that recline in the winding old streets of Monaco-Ville are the place to head. The Condamine area is home to around 200 shops, while the Fontvieille Shopping Centre is a more 'normal' shopping experience with 36 shops selling electronic goods, CDs, furniture, and clothes as well as a Carrefour supermarket. The tourist office also issue a useful free shopping guide to the city. Automobile Club De MonacoThe Automobile Club de Monaco is celebrating its 75th Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo, which will take place from 18th to 21st January 2007. With three quarters of a century under its belt, the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo is one of the oldest of all rallies, and will once again kick off the 2007 season, but this time totally redisignated. The Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo is returning to Ardèche and the Vercors mountains, where its legendary reputation was built. This will be a totally new race experience for most of the current crop of FIA and World Rally Champship contestants, who will have, until now, never raced these roads.
Monaco Yacht Club
The only international yacht show devoted exclusively to luxury yachting. The biggest in-water display in Europe of super and mega yachts.
Monte Carlo CasinoIt is hard to imagine that in the middle of the 19th century, this prestigious square - known all over the world - was nothing but overgrown wasteland under which, according to forebears, were seawater - filled caves. The visionary François Blanc, founder of the Société des Bains de Mer, transformed it completely within three years; he built the Casino and, a mere ten metres away, the Hôtel de Paris. Opposite the hotel, horses and their carriages were tucked away in the stables. Yet more changes were on the way... a fountain was constructed in the middle and palm trees were imported from Bordighera. The only thing missing was a really good café so, in 1868, the Café Divan was opened. The Place du Casino's design was now complete.
