The Reynolds Plantion

Luxury Golf Courses: The Reynolds Plantation may be an idyllic piece of history, but the multitude of golf courses it features are as luxurious as any, ranking among America's best.

A world-class designer, off-setting the historicism of the land with some of the finest features available, designs each magnificent course. In fact, the Bob Cupp-designed Plantation Course at Reynolds Plantation has earned the honor of being named one of the "Ten Best New Courses" by GOLF Magazine as well as one of Zagat's 2007 America's Top Golf Courses.

Designed by Bob Cupp in 1988, the Plantation course set the stage for Reynolds Plantation to become a golf course legend. The 6,698-yard, par-72 offsets the beauty of the land perfectly, making it a great place to play.

After the Plantation course, came many more courses, each with their own special features.

The National Course, designed by Tom Fazio in 1997, created holes with drama as unique as the setting. In 2000, an additional nine holes were added, bringing the total number of holes on the course to 27. The Oconee Course, designed by Rees Jones in 2002 has hosted high-profile events, including the 2007 PGA Cup and the Chick-Fil-A Bowl Alma Mater.

Great Waters Course designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1992 is a Jack Nicklaus signature course and was the site of the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf from 1995 to 1997, in addition to being ranked among the "Ten Best New Courses" by GOLF Magazine.

The Creek Club, built by Golf Digest 2003 "Architect of the Year" Jim Engh, was opened in 2007, as the Reynolds Plantation's first private course. The contemporary-styled course features rolling bunkers, Zoysia grass fairways and striking water features.

The most recent addition to the Reynolds Plantation will be the Richland, by golf architect legend Pete Dye, and is still under construction. The new course crosses the lake twice and so makes possible a variety of unique lakefront features. The course is a walking course, made possible by the area's topography and so will be tough, yet playable for all levels of golfers. The new course also features challenging holes of varying sizes.

With so many different courses with unique features, all golf aficionados are sure to have a great time playing and staying in nearby luxury hotels.
