After the young Colin Kaepernick performed like a top-tier quarterback Alex Smith's journey with the San Francisco 49ers seems to be coming to an end. The 49ers have reportedly said that they are looking to sell Smith as for the foreseeable future Kaepernick will be their quarterback.
Alex Smith will likely get a fresh start in 2013. The San Francisco 49ers will reportedly try to trade the now-backup quarterback at some point this offseason.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news, saying it will be easy for a move to get done because "there is not a great supply of available quarterbacks and there is a demand for Smith."
Without a lot of quarterback talent available on the trade and free-agent market, not to mention even fewer viable options in the 2013 NFL draft class, Smith is sure to be a hot commodity this offseason.
