Talking Stick Resort Asia, the popular super group responsible for “In the Heat of the Moment,” not the continent, has Scottsdale, Arizona as a destination on their latest tour. Set to perform on November 13th, this older generation's band still has the style and rhythm to rock almost 30 years after setting out.
If the disco hotspots have held no charm for you since ’82 you are in luck. Thirty years after the super group Asia sang those words from “In the Heat of the Moment,” the original members of Asia are out on tour again and will set down in Scottsdale, on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the Talking Stick Resort Showroom.
Asia was formed in 1981 as a super group of progressive rock performers. Bassist/vocalist John Wetton had played with King Crimson, Roxy Music and UK. Drummer Carl Palmer was the “P” of ELP, Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Guitarist Steve Howe was taking a break from Yes. Keyboardist Geoffrey Downes had also played with Yes and the Buggles. Downes, as a member of the Buggles, has the distinction of having the first video ever played on MTV, ‘Video Killed the Radio Star.”
