 With 5K, 10K, half marathon and a one-mile child's course available this year, the popular marathon in Atlantic City is returning this weekend on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Expect fierce competition, goofy entrants, fun and excitement for all who attend.
Few marathons across America can match the longevity of the one held annually in Atlantic City. The race has been a mid-October mainstay in the community for more than half a century, since the seaside city unveiled its version of the 26.2-mile run.
The Atlantic City Marathon has become an icon of sorts, currently ranking as the third oldest marathon in the United States. The race takes center stage again Sunday, Oct. 21 as part of an eventful weekend.
The 54th installment of the Atlantic City Marathon is expected to attract more than 4,200 competitors. Runners travel to South Jersey from hometowns across the globe.
