On a beautiful five-acre lot in the Coconut Grove area in Miami stands the Barnacle Historic State Park and the house is the oldest constructed house in the county, having been built in 1891. Throughout the year, the park is home to many events and concerts, and the park itself offers a pleasant outing for picnicking, tours of the site and viewing wildlife. The Barnacle Historic State Park provides guests with the opportunity to learn about how life was lived over a century ago and, as such, it is a wonderful location to take children on an education adventure through interpretive exhibits and the historic house museum.
With multiple picnic tables nestled under naturally shaded areas around the park, families that are enthusiastic about the outdoors can easily spend a full day exploring for animals, visiting the shallow sea beds and experiencing some fantastic bird-watching opportunities.
