With over 8,000,000 pieces of human history spread out among multiple departments, the British Museum is a nearly unparalleled location to learn about and see firsthand the developments of humankind over throughout all of history. Some of the more impressive departments at the museum include the Ancient Egyptian, Grecian, Roman and Prehistory areas. Brimming with sculptures, artwork, tools and writings, these areas give visitors an unprecedented look at the collective history of all peoples. One of the more noteworthy pieces on display is the Rosetta Stone, which has been paramount in deciphering ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.
All of this is housed in a beautifully constructed piece of architecture that is both awe-inspiring and welcoming. In fact, the design of the museum is in itself worthy of visiting and this is especially true in the case of the Great Court that incorporates over 1,600 glass panes in a tessellated glass roofed area. Days could be spent browsing through the magnificent British Museum and visiting the location is highly recommended.
