 fqfi.org There’s no better way to celebrate and give recognition to the late great Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong then to throw one of New Orleans biggest bashes of the year known as the Satchmo Summerfest. This celebration was started in celebration of his one 100th birthday. This special celebration will take place during the first weekend of August. The location will be on the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint located on the edge of the French Quarter.
There will be plenty of live bands to create the ultimate atmosphere for this event. Many of the bands that that will be attending this event will be paying tribute to Armstrong and his music. This event is free and is open to the public, so put on your best party hat and join the thousands of people paying tribute to this world class musician.
During the festivities for those interested there will be music seminars and discussions with renowned speakers who were inspired by Louis Armstrong. Like most festivals this festival is no different in the fact that you’ll find some world famous culinary delicacies located around the festival site. Who knows you may just find yourself sipping a cool and refreshing Mint Julep while relaxing under a shade tree.
