Yes, Chicago sure loves Chaka Khan, but then, with ten GRAMMYs under her belt who wouldn't? Celebrating its first ever Chaka Khan day, the city has revealed Chaka Khan Way, a new street dedicated to the lovely singer. Accompanying the grand opening will be a free concert set to launch July 28th.

Chaka Khan participated in the unveiling of Chaka Khan Way on S. Blackstone Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets on Saturday, July 27. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Fourth Ward Alderman William Burns and other city officials, business and community leaders and celebrity friends of Chaka’s are all scheduled to be in attendance.
On Sunday, July 28, she will be honored in a ceremony proclaiming that day “Chaka Khan Day.” Chaka is set to perform at a free outdoor concert in Millennium Park after she accepts the honors from the city.
