Reginald Johnson/Examiner.com One part community outreach, one part social and entertainment event, the Africa Festival in Washington DC highlights a city that truly is working to better the lives of everyone within it. From food and music to social programs and community organization, the event was a success all around.
The 3rd Annual DC Africa Festival was held over the weekend and hundreds of supporters were on hand to celebrate the District's diverse African community.
The DC Africa Festival was hosted by the DC Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (OAA) at the Benjamin Banneker Recreation Center.
"The festival was an overall success," said OAA Director Ngozi Nmezi. "Our primary concern was to make sure people in the community were able to check out our Government and Community Resources Pavilion so they can learn how they can have greater access to services with DC government, and we achieved that goal."
