Although a vacation in New Orleans has a lot to offer in itself, what about the residents of the Big Easy? Now that they have direct flights to Cancun, there's no excuse for them to forgo an excellent vacation at one of the many luxury resorts on the pristine Mexican beaches. On the other hand, New Orleans itself has enough cool sites to easily have a staycation there. Tough choice.
Louis Armstrong International Airport on Tuesday announced it is adding a second direct international destination through the summer vacation season, offering flights to Cancun every Sunday from May 26 through Aug. 11.
While Cancun will be the airport's 40th non-stop destination, an announcement said it will serve as the second international route, joining flights that already link New Orleans and Toronto.
The Vacation Express tour operator will book the flights. The airline AeroMéxico will run the Cancun trips on a 124-passenger Boeing 737-700 jet.
