Events and Showings in the Los Angeles Region

If you're going to be in or around the Los Angeles area there are a few events that you might want to attend (as always). The Los Angeles county Museum of Art (LACMA) will be featuring a number of films such as “Nothing But a Man”, “Harvey”, and “A Clockwork Orange” among others.

Admission is only $10 for most films and others are cheaper.

American Cinematheque at the Egyptian: "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996) and "Man on the Moon" (1999), 7:30 tonight. Miyazaki, Takahata and the Masters of Studio Ghibli: Cinema at Its Most Beautiful: "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" (1984) and "Castle in the Sky" (1986), 7:30 p.m. Saturday. "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004), 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets $11; $9 seniors and students. 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. 323-466- 3456.

Tuesday Matinee series: "Harvey" (1950), 1 p.m. Tuesday ($4; $2 seniors 62 and older). "Vanishing Point" (1971), 7:30 p.m. Thursday ($10). "The Naked City" (1948), 7:30 p.m. ($10) and "Kiss of Death" (1947), 9:15 p.m. Feb. 8 (admission included with first film or $5 for this film only). 5905 Wilshire Blvd. 323-857-6000.
