It's marathon season and Charlotte is proudly putting on it's fourth summer marathon in the form of Tri! Ballantyne, a triathlon fit for the family and featuring everything from games to a live performance from Phase 2. With the nation facing an ongoing obesity issue, getting kids motivated to stay athletic is a welcome enterprise, and Tri! Ballantyne's years of performance have yet to disappoint.
South Charlotte’s own sprint triathlon is back for the fourth summer in a row, and this time will be bigger and better than ever, organizers say.
“It’s our fourth annual event and it’s totally different,” Crystal Trawick, Tri! Ballantyne co-organizer, said. “We’re making it a full-day family event.”
The fourth annual Tri! Ballantyne event, sponsored by the Morrison Family YMCA, will take place July 13, a Saturday. This year’s event will feature the same classic competitions as years past with an adult competition, relay competition and Kids’ Tri! Ballantyne race – which this year will be held on Saturday afternoon rather than the usual Friday evening.
