It's always difficult to truly honor those who have fought and died for a nation, but Miami Springs is set to once again make an honorable celebration of Memorial Day, complete with near universal participation from local churches, friends and family, and even the local Boy and Girl Scouts chapters.
In cities throughout the United States, people will gather on Memorial Day, this Monday, May 27, to remember and pay homage to those who have died fighting for their country.
And for the 25th consecutive year, one of those celebrations will take place in Miami Springs.
The event is organized by the John Macdonald Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. at the World War II monument next to the Circle.
The ceremonies will include an opening prayer led by Rev. Van Lahmeyer of the First Presbyterian Church, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Boy Scouts, and the Americanís Creed led by Girl Scouts.
