With this new office on the way, startup companies should have an easier time working with the venture capital firm.
New Enterprise Associates, one of the country's most well-established venture capital firms, is opening an office in Chicago to forge closer ties with the area's burgeoning technology start-up scene.
NEA, which has about $13 billion in committed capital, is headquartered in Silicon Valley with additional U.S. offices in the Washington, D.C. area and New York City. The firm announced its Chicago office Wednesday alongside Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the West Loop offices of Sprout Social, a Chicago startup that counts NEA as an investor.
NEA has invested more money in the Chicago area than any other metropolitan area outside Silicon Valley.
