One of the most unique ways to see the sights and possibly take in some New Orleans shopping would be to travel by streetcar. NOLA has some of the oldest and most beautiful streetcars still in operation. Some of these moving works of art have been in existence for over 150 years serving the community.
From one-way transportation to unlimited passes that are available on a 3 to 5 day basis, there are three different streetcar lines that are based out of the downtown area. Each one of these lines will take you in the direction of your choice, depending on where you would like to end up.
For a truly historical experience, hop on the St.Charles Line as it is actually the oldest operating streetcar and the world. With its beautiful mahogany seats and shiny brass fittings, this street car will take you’ll on a journey of approximately 13 miles. While winding through the central business district, uptown New Orleans, and passing by some of the most beautiful mansions and historic monuments, you simply couldn’t ask for a more nostalgic way to travel. The two other lines that are available are the Canal Street Line and the Riverfront Line giving you the opportunity to choose even more destinations.
