However, the New York Comic-Con is growing tremendously with each year and looks like it will soon dethrone the king of cons.
The San Diego Comic-Con has been known for decades as the gold standard of comics fandom get-togethers and is considered something of a mecca to the devoted – a place to which the true geek must make a pilgrimage at least once. But New York’s upstart young punk of a con is gunning for number one – and gaining ground.
Not that everything is a battle – but come on, these are comic books, and as Marvel readers already know from this summer’s much-hyped crossover series, even the Avengers and the X-Men aren’t immune to competition between themselves.
