 With an elegant fluidity, the musicians of the San Francisco Symphony performed as masterfully as we have grown to expect from them. Considering they will be traveling through Asia next week, their performance was a special treat and sendoff for those in attendance for the wonderful performance.
Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony are off to Asia next week, with 10 stops in China, Taiwan and Japan. But first, they swung through Davies Symphony Hall to give the locals a little taste of what they're bringing across the Pacific.
Wednesday's one-off concert in Davies Symphony Hall offered yet another opportunity to savor the incredible artistry of pianist Yuja Wang, who will be accompanying the orchestra during the tour. Her powerhouse account of Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto provided a dazzling glimpse of what Asian audiences are in for.
