Autoweek Car manufacturer Scion is taking full advantage of social media as they are advertising at the Chicago Auto Show that they are using instagram. Not only are they showing that they are using them but they are also installing them in their vehicles. New models will receive live social media feeds on their touchscreens.
Scion has never been shy about billing itself as Toyota's youth-oriented brand, and it's hoping to bring some of that edge to the upcoming 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
Yes, the sporty Scion FR-S will be on display -- along with a modified, track-ready take on the two-door that will be entered in the 2013 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach -- but an automaker-issued press release suggests that social media will be the star of the show.
Each displayed Scion FR-S, xB, tC, xD and iQ will get an “interactive media counter” that provides information and “brand culture imagery” at the touch of a touchscreen. Instagram photos and Twitter activity will be shown in real time on a video setup.
