William Shakespeare is getting a showcase on the PBS stage, and Orlando Shakespeare Theater will help explain the timeless appeal of the Bard of Avon.
The six-part “Shakespeare Uncovered” premieres at 9 p.m. Friday and starts with Ethan Hawke looking at “Macbeth.” At 10 p.m. Friday, Joely Richardson and her mom, Vanessa Redgrave, consider the comedies “Twelfth Night” and “As You Like It.”
The programs continue the next two Fridays. On Feb. 1, Derek Jacobi examines “Richard II,” and Jeremy Irons studies the history plays. On Feb. 8, David Tennant talks to fellow actors who’ve played Hamlet, and director Trevor Nunn explores “The Tempest.”
