If there's one thing I believe more people should partake in, it's art and culture museums and events. Understanding the history and progress of art allows a unique look into the way our society has been shaped and allows a brief glimpse into where our culture will be heading in the future. This being the case, there are some great art shows and exhibits happening in the Orlando area that visitors would be well advised to check out.
What our museums lack in size, they make up for in creativity, moxie and searching the world for excellent exhibitions that may be just a little too small for some of the behemoths in larger cities.
The Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando and Lake Eustis Museum of Art seem to find many great collections to fill their galleries — and not break their budgets. The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens finds exhibits that are interesting to a wide variety of aesthetic tastes. In the last couple of years this Winter Park treasure has had Soviet art, landscape paintings, pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs), photography, comic-book art and sculpture.
