 John Austin/Fred Ashley The Los Angeles Griffith Observatory was actually funded by Col. Griffith. One lonely night he looked through a telescope and he said that it changed his life forever. Everyone should take some time to check out this amazing park, which offers both awesome imagery and educational insight into the stars.
One night on Mt. Wilson about 1908, a short, powerfully built man with a handlebar mustache looked through the largest telescope in the world. What he saw transformed him, and would put Los Angeles at the forefront of a movement to make astronomy the people's science.
